My thoughts on Nana

Since the start of this pandemic, I've watched a lot of different shows and of course some anime. I'm used to watching the power girl genres but since I'm older now and am observing my new interests, it turns out that I actually really love romantic shit. My top favorite anime is Beastarz, Berserk, Cannon Busters, Inuyasha, and Nana :) Can you guess which is my number one favorite?

I cannot express enough how much I've enjoyed this series, it puts me in my feels, it's relatable, it's funny, and the music??? 10/10. Definitely top tier storytelling.

I'll try not to spoil much and this honestly won't be long but I'd like to talk about one of the protagonist, which is Nana (Hachi).

Most people get irritated with her character because she's a codependent serial dater, kind of a pushover, and is very naive.

Most people see naivety as a nuisance and weakness, however, I personally feel that there's power in those who are deemed as naiive. There's power in almost everything, what matters is how you use it and what you do with it. When you're going through a storm, you're likely to succumb from believing that it will never end and you won't see a rainbow. Although it's important to focus on what is your present instead of what isn't, even if it doesn't look the best, some of us tend to sink too deep in our pessimism and say "it's just the way it is". Through the lens of a naiive person, it seems like they're always viewing the variety of possibilities that tend to be optimistic. It's much different than toxic positivity and their successful outcomes are definitely not just luck. It's their unique form of assertion. Many of them are blessed with this vibrant imagination so I feel that it's much more their drive and ambition to chase something that may look unattainable to others. To have a naive person around, makes living through life despite its challenges, immensely sweeter.

The issue with Nana that unfortunately led to her downfall, was that her naivety didn't have a clear direction. In the beginning she was this cheerful person who had nothing but high hopes for her future as she approached further in her life as an adult, but because of the painful experiences that she encountered, she eventually couldn't help but focus on the past and based her present and self worth by the impression that she could never experience something real and genuine that didn't end up with her having her heart broken again.
